Happy post- holidays! In typical Virginia fashion we went from freezing to fifty and back again in a matter of days which makes me appreciate the sunny days so much more! There are so many little pieces of this outfit I'm excited to share with you, but mainly the fact that this a classic outfit that you can tailor to what's already in your closet. If you break it apart all you really need is:
- shoes, tights and a skirt in the same color to create a long line effect
- opaque tights are best! These are Kushyfoot and work well. They actually have massaging gel ridges in the feet too! Not sure how they'll withstand washing quite yet.
- a patterned button up
- a statement necklace
- structured hand bag
And that's the brilliant thing about investing in classic pieces: they have a long and varried life in your wardrobe.
Sunglasses: Moorea Seal// Necklace: Ann Taylor Loft ( similar in pink ) // Shirt: J. Crew Factory// Skirt: Old Navy (similar) // Tights: ℅ Kushyfoot // Shoes: Target (similar in silver) // Bag: Kate Spade// Bracelet: Moorea Seal (peg bracelet sold out right now- chevron version in stock) // Nail Color: Mochacino by Essie
First, the bag. Yes. I found THE black structured bag. I knew if I waited for after Christmas sales I would find a deal. True to usual Carlene, I went with a black Kate Spade in the Wellesley collection (style Quinn). The Wellesley collection is by far my favorite to date!!! Which is great for me because since it's an "older" style, it's less expensive. The Quinn is very roomy compared to the Kate Spade Alessa I have in green. I think this bag is going to have quite a bit of use for a long time to come.
The Audrey sunglasses and peg bracelet are getting a post of their own later. Moorea Seal is my new obsession and it will be your's too. I love them. Stay tuned.
And I guess I'm always wearing a statement necklace, because look what my Grandmother-in-law gave me! I'm loving this LOFT gem necklace. Props Grandma. Mad props. Did you find any great staple pieces this winter? Or were you given any for the holidays?
NOTE: I joined Poshmark and listed a few things this weekend including some Coach products, Kenneth Cole and a vintage beaded evening bag. Obviously everything is authentic (no yucky copying purchasing here). Find it here: https://poshmark.com/closet/carlene_t
Disclosure: Kushyfoot sent me samples but I was not compensated for wearing or sharing the product.
