Currently at a conference...at Ohio State University in Columbus, chillin' with Brutus. One of the things I do as a consultant is work as the campus dietitian for a Maryland university. So I went to the first ever Building Healthy Academic Communities campus wearing my campus RD hat. It was a fascinating conference and I can't wait to bring back some ideas to put into action for our students. Some of my favorite concepts were from the Million Hearts Campaign WVU's DrinkWell campaign, and the Human Performance Institute.

Currently enjoying wedding season...with the lovely ladies of my past dietetic internship. The bride got engaged during our internship last year and threw a fabulous wedding at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond, VA. This big group never misses a chance to party together, significant others included.

Currently exploring Richmond... for the first time. While I went to a conference in Richmond earlier this month, I didn't get to browse. So this weekend before and after the wedding, we shopped and ate our way through the Careytown area. We saw the governor's mansion, the capital building etc. Here are some of the stops we loved:

  • Urban Farmhouse: a foodie must for local and seasonal bites and coffee (see right).
  • Need Supply Co: for cute dresses.
  • Chop Suey: for architecture and design books.
  • Buzz and Ned's BBQ: for nationally famed BBQ (and fried catfish for the rest of us).
  • Mongrel: for stationary and gifts.

Are you in the middle of wedding season? Have you been to Richmond?
