Each season has usually one specific piece of produce that I miss the rest of the three seasons of the year. That piece of produce for fall is the apple. Fresh picked or just cold stored apples throughout fall are so crisp and sweet, I can't get enough of them. And while an apple pie is always loved, I decided to make this month's October Swooned cake recipe a blend of healthy (apple sauce instead of multiple fat sources and even whole wheat flour) and sweet (ice cream!).
