Matte Black KitchenAid Mixers and Ceramic Mixer Bowls: Essential Pavlova Tools
When it comes to desserts, if I had to pick a signature item it would be the Pavlova (aka Schaum Torte). It’s crisp meringue with a chewy inside, topped with whipped cream and fruit or whatever else you want. We’ve always made it in our family and it’s become my go-to dessert for guests or parties (it’s gluten free, it’s stunning, it’s actually three ingredients).
In fact, we’ve made it probably every two years for the blog in the form of a 2013 Maple Pear Pavlova, a 2014 Wineberry Pavlova, and a 2017 gorgeous strawberry edible flower pavlova (seriously I love these photos).
One essential for this good meringue is a solid, reliable stand mixer. While you can use whatever you have on hand, we are pretty firmly Team KitchenAid. My grandma has had her KitchenAid for decades. I’ve had one since college and one time was hired to make 125 mini pavlovas for a wedding. It survived that too.
Not so shockingly, my previous mixers have been white and almond. But when I saw the matte black KitchenAid version come out a while ago, that’s been my dream KitchenAid. It matches our kitchen hardware. It’s awesome.
And while there are tons and tons of colors for everyone, the exciting newest addition is the new line of bowls which are ceramic. They have ones with flowers, ones with other patterns, but I fell in love with the white basket weave.
