How To Stock Your Freezer with Make-Ahead Meals
A fast guide to cleaning out, evaluating, and stocking your freezer with make-ahead meals. Don’t waste that space!
One of my pre-baby to-do list projects was to stock the freezer. While I think it’s fairly obvious, having good food on hand is important to us. I knew that having a variety of options in the freezer would make us so happy later since everything was made how we like it, required minimal effort, and basically zero prep.
This is not just a ‘bring home a new family member’ task (said so casually…). Utilizing your freezer space wisely is important for any busy season of your life. There are obvious money-saving elements (way less expensive than a repetitive take out habit), as well as nutrition benefits (less sodium, fat, calories than your standard take out). But most importantly, I think it’s just an efficient way to either store excess (have extra veg? Make a vegetable soup and freeze it) and reduce waste while taking stress off your plate later.
In our latest Inspired Home piece, I walk you through how to tackle your freezer right now and what to consider when making freezer meals. There are no recipes in this article because if you do a two second search you will be INNUNDATED with batch cooking options depending on your style. Admittedly, many of the options presented by Pinterest seem to lean towards Instapot and slow cookers (not my thing), so you’ll see some of my labels in the article read more so soups, Indian chicken dishes, and a few comfort favorites (meatballs in sauce…tuna casserole).
