If it's wedding season and you know it clap your hands (clap clap).

We just had one of our fabulous dietetic interns accept a proposal this week, and then there's a Groom Hailstorm (extreme-man-bridal-shower) coming up for another friend. Stir in a few possible questions being popped for some friends and you have wedding season.

Now that the sun is shining and we've covered how you can use kitchen ingredients for DIY facial fun, let's move on to a larger surface area before you strip down. Please, for everyone's sake before you don a sun dress, scrub girl, scrub (Or guy, I don't judge).

Here are three exfoliating body scrubs you can make with every day foods:

Lemon Tea Scrub: Lemon is packed with vitamin C, an antioxidant that can help you battle sun damage. Green tea is also an antioxidant and may provide sun protection, anti aging, and acne treatment.

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 Tbsp. Kosher
  • 3 bags green tea (loose or open the bag)
  • 10 tsp. olive oil or grape seed oil
  • 2 tsp. honey
  • 1 lemon, zested and juiced

Add all ingredients to a bowl and mix thoroughly. Store in an airtight container.

Coffee Sugar ScrubCoffee applied topically can reduce inflammation and puffiness and offer protection from the sun. Applied via the oral cavity, coffee can make your day awesome.
  • 1 C Sugar
  • 5 TBSP Coffee Grounds
  • 1/4 C oil
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
Add all ingredients to a bowl and mix thoroughly. Store in an airtight container.
100% Home Grown- You Pick!: Thinking you want to make your own signature scrub? Here's a basic recipe:
  • Juice 1/2 lemon
  • 1 T sugar
  • 1-2 t any exfoliator: ground nuts, wheat germ, ground oats
  • 2 t oil: almond, olive, grape seed,vegetable
All of the scrubs can be stored in air tight containers. My current obsession? Canning jars. Foodie beauty at its finest.
