February is a pretty sweet month. Not only is it the month of Valentines Day, but it's also host to National Almond Day (2/16), National Heart Health Month and National Snacking Month. Those are a lot of holidays I can get behind. To celebrate, the Almond Board of California sent me the tools to start a month of almond perfection off right.
AND they're giving away a ton of almond products to YOU.
You can enter at the bottom of this post. But first, a weekend update.
Dinner with my dietitian loves!
When I went through my
my class had 9 girls. And after a few thousand hours of slaving away together we are still obsessed with each other. We love to catch up, eat, drink, gossip and generally love on each other. This weekend we went to Fuego in Arlington for tequila and tacos. Two of these ladies are clinical dietitians and two are wellness/nutrition program managers for non-profits. All of them are awesome.
French Macaron Making:
I have always been determined to make macarons at home. But hell if that's happening during humid Virginia summer! With the almond flour CA Almonds sent, I whipped up a few batches and filled them with fresh fig orange jam. Now just to figure out how to get the tops glassy smooth.
Make me a custom table:
I'll be part of a wedding event at an estate/inn in hunt country later this month. Instead of a folding table for my display, we decided the husband will make a custom table (think kelly green, Hollywood regency gorgeousness). Since I'm a visual person, the next thing I know there's a measured tape table on my wall so I 'get it'. Stay tuned for photos of the actual product which will live in my office.
The Giveaway Loot
- 1 pound whole almonds
- 1 pound sliced blanched almonds
- 1 pound almond flour
- 1 pound almond butter (Not pictured. Husband broke into it pre-photo.)
- Almond cook book
- 2 single serving almond containers
- A fabulous orange tote bag (For real. I love it.)
Ever single form of almond was delicious and I'll show you some of my almond creations later in the month. First up tomorrow, almond butter cookies! There are so many reasons to love almonds. Since almonds are gluten free and 'paleo', they're great for so many eating plans. They are always one of my snack recommendations for my clients and something I carry in my snack macaron. And since almonds were used by the Romans to shower newlyweds for a fertility charm, gotta love that as a wedding industry participant.
To enter the giveaway do one of the following (or both) by Friday, February 8th, noon EST. :

Disclosure: The Almond Board of California was fabulous enough to send me the above seen Almond SWAG and give one of you the same! I was not compensated for writing this post.
