Brunch and Golf: Topgolf Loudoun
Disclosure: Thank you to Topgolf for partnering with me for this post and letting us come hang for brunch! Everything I'm telling you is 100% my honest opinion.
I've always thought golf was a cool sport. I think, being an archer growing up (pre-Hunger Games thank you), I'm kind of drawn to sports where you aim and distance is involved...oh and also you don't have to run. That's a big selling point. But I've never had the guts to actually GO golf on a golf course. We would drive golf balls at my parents' house (no neighbors, lots of woods, lots of golf balls), but I've always felt afraid or maybe felt like I'm going to be massively judged if I go golf on a course. Which is why Topgolf is the perfect solution.
Now, living in Loudoun County, we have PLENTY of golf courses and country clubs. But that's not what Topgolf is. Topgolf is for a fun, relaxed environment that lets you build your golfing confidence over cocktails, coffee and food with friends. No one judges you (except your friends). There's not a dress code. You go, you play a game (distance, accuracy etc) and you have a freaking blast. Sunday I spent the morning with friends as a first timer and you better believe I'm going back ASAP.
Even if you've never hit a golf ball you're going to have so much fun. You and your group get your own little seating area and golfing bay. Kind of like going bowling, you have screens that display scores (your golf balls are microchipped!) and you're awarded points based on the game your playing. The balls are dispensed AUTOMATICALLY at the bay. No more walking to get a bucket of balls like older facilities. Each person when they go up to hit a ball or five taps their name on the screen and the scoring is tallied to their account. And don't freak about the weather either! They have fans and a cross breeze if it's hot and if it's cold (it was 50 degrees when we went) you'll be taking off layers because they have great heat lamps. You'll be totally comfortable. And if it rains? You're under cover anyway!
Now let's get to the other good stuff...the food and cocktails. Each bay has a dedicated server who comes to you! You let them know your order and they'll bring it straight to you. We went for brunch so we ordered mimosas, bloody marys and man-mosas (yep they're made with beer). Then we ordered a few appetizers (pretty darn good!) for the table and went for entrees after. They have a big selection and my favorite...brunch items. All of us went for chicken and waffles or eggs Benedict (a bit under-seasoned but they do have salt and condiments on the table). For a sports facility, the food was pretty good. But the Bloodies were perfectly executed.
I'm being dead serious with you guys: GO TO TOPgOLF. If you relax, you're going to have so much fun. I'm plotting my return as we speak...
