Sweet Frog: The Fro-yo Trip
I brake for icecream. Of any sort. Location irrelevant. In fact, I may have inherited an icecream locator gene enabling me to sense a parlor within 30 miles of a given position.
On a trip to have my engagement ring resized, my sister/maid of honor mentioned there was a new frozen yogurt bar "on the way". By "on the way" she means it was in the same county, which is close enough for me. And so we traveled to Sweet Frog in Chantilly,VA.
Update: The Chantilly location is not on the main Sweet Frog website so here's what I know: it opens at 11:30 during the week and has indoor and outdoor seating. The address is 13061 Lee Jackson Memorial Highway.
True, Sweet Frog isn't in an adorable boutique location, just your average strip mall, but from the exterior awning of pink and green I could foresee a promising excursion . The Virginia chain specializes in natural, self serve frozen yogurt with extensive options: at least 12 individual flavors with the ability to 'swirl' in sets of two. There's also a topping bar with fresh fruit, sauces, crushed nuts, and even some unusual Asian candies. Here are their current flavors:
- Tart original
- Mango
- Cookies and cream
- Cappuccino
- Cheesecake
- Strawberry
- Chocolate
- Vanilla
- Peanut Buter
- Caramel
- Tarro
- Sweet Coconut
- Georgia Peach
I promise all three cups aren't mine.
After picking up the container of your desired size, flavor selection is next. I wanted to try everything but ended up with cookies and cream, caramel, Georgia peach, and tarro (it tasted fruity) without any toppings. Lesson learned, you can ask for small sample cups to try the flavors first without committing! The bill will depend on how much you decide to serve up. Each ounce is .39 cents and for two, our total was about $5.50.
Thankfully I still have to go and pick up my ring once it's done being sized...I know somewhere "on the way" I can stop.
