Hallelujahhhhhhh there is produce to be had! Our CSA just delivered the first of the summer squash and zucchini of the season in our basket this week. That is basically a sign that it is full on produce production mode in Virginia. Tomatoes are ripening as we speak! Our two little plants are now massive, billowing monsters that are absolutely laden with green tomatoes. I'll take any chance I can get to go touch the leaves and smell that very specific tomato scent. All in all, I'm just glad they grew this year now that we know about the dastardly effects of the Black Walnut tree.

Because there is such a bounty of in season produce, you guys know it's my goal to cook as in season as possible. It tastes better, it looks better, it's less expensive, better for the environment... I could go on and on, but instead I'll just show you. I rounded up a baker's dozen of my favorite recent summer produce recipes from the blog. I hope this serves as inspiration to kick off Fourth of July planning!
