I make this smoothie with an equal mixture of enjoyment and annoyance. If you'll notice, this is quite a striking purple color. I know. It's lovely and it's delicious. Okay, that being said, it's purple specifically because of mulberries. To be more exact, it's made from the massive mulberry tree in my yard where birds and squirrels are currently binge eating, dropping berries and staining every inch of brick (and Prius) nearby. I'm so over the mulberry tree. Which is why we called the arborist.

Beauty Booster Smoothie: Mulberry Hemp Seed

As a last hurrah of said weed tree, I felt compelled to create a recipe and blog it for posterity. After seeing a surge in mulberry recipes online, and even stumbling across an entire mulberry juice company at Expo east last year, I feel a little guilty for not enjoying the berries more since moving into the house. Well...not guilty enough to keep the tree. Maybe that's why I pureed the shi* out of these berries for a recipe.

On this particular day, I was really in the mood for a creamy, whipped smoothie. With a handful of blueberries and mulberries, I balanced it out with my favorite 0% Greek yogurt, soaked almonds and a sprinkle of hemp seed on top. The perfect blend of nutty, fruity and creamy.
