Little food is cute. Except when it comes to pizza. Or my favorite flavor of ice cream. Because I want a normal portion. But in general, when food is made miniature it makes me a little happy at how brilliant it is. In this feature with Food Network we came up with 10 mini-foods that are essentially 'the new slider'. Everything from eggs and toast to fish and chips, we found a way to shrink it down and that's always interesting. We even went so far in one concept that we didn't end up using to make an entire Thanksgiving meal on a toothpick (turkey, stuffing, cranberry...seriously). That's actually a more difficult thing than you may realize. The dish then has to have the same taste and texture elements but also look cute and recognizable. The food styling is way different.
Maybe my favorite dish from that shoot are the mini banana splits where we used a variety of banana called 'finger bananas' that are, well, finger sized and used a melon baller to scoop out ice cream.

And this one didn't make the cut but I still LOVE this concept. Totally need to do this for real this Thanksgiving.
